Hotel
Meri
Oludeniz, Turkey
Travelers Digest 2003 Review
While we were in Oludeniz we soon discovered the best hotel in
the entire area, The Meri Hotel. Naturally we stayed there, actually for
three weeks. We toured, filmed and reviewed this really uniquely located
resort at the end of a lagoon. Hotel Meri was bought
and renovated about ten years ago and sits on the best beach in Oludeniz.
It has a park like setting and is nestled in natural surroundings,
including many pine and olive trees. This particular area has since become
restricted and will have no more additional construction of buildings. So
there is no chance of it becoming just another over built beach. Most of
Meri's rooms have a sea view and all have a private bathroom, shower,
hair-dryer, air-conditioning, direct dial telephone, a mini bar and
satellite television. They offer large fully equipped suites for families
and these are closer to the beach. Their many standard rooms are built on
the hill overlooking the Mediterranean sea. The hotel's beach is private
and therefore void of any motorized boat noise. The swimming is great and
your enjoyment and privacy are guaranteed. You can even grab one of their
many small paddle boats and head off to explore the lagoon. The Meri hotel
is inclusive as that they don't charge you for any of their many
amenities. Everything is included in your room price. The food and bar is
also inclusive and service is available only a few steps from the beach.
There are three meals served each day and there is a wide variety. Its a
buffet, so you can eat all you desire. Having the beer and other drinks
included in the daily room price, you can just knock yourself out. There
are two bars and one is right next to the pool, so you won't have to
venture far. If you want to work off a meal or simply entertain yourself,
they do have a gym, sauna, large pool and a game room. If being lazy is
more your desire, you can just hang around the beach. There are plenty of
lounge chairs for tanning or just relaxing. Service is never too far away.
The staff are there to take care of you. They are friendly, intelligent
and eager to assist. The hotel staff can even arrange tours and car
rentals.
