Situated 0.5 km (1650 feet) off the village of Richards Landing on St. Joseph
Island in Lake Huron, near the city of Sault Ste. Marie, this 4 acre private
island is available for rent on a weekly basis to up to 8 people.
A 24 foot (7 metre) pontoon boat transports guests and their luggage across
to the island where accommodations are provided in a 3-bedroom main cottage with
kitchen, living room and a one bedroom guest cottage. A sauna building is also
present and there is a nice deck for relaxing outdoors. The cottages provide a
rustic vacation experience. There is no electricity, phone service or running
water. The cottages are equipped with lights, a fridge, gas stove and barbecue,
cold water gravity showers and an indoor composting toilet. Guests are provided
with the use of a small power boat, so it's very easy to divide one's time
between the island and the facilities and attractions of the mainland. Swimming,
fishing and hiking are some of the recreational activities that Hattie Island
offers in abundance. Parking is available on the mainland for up to 3 vehicles.
