Spanish Water Cay, Curacao Location: Curacao is (approximately) a 2-1/2 hour flight from Miami, 5 hours from New York, 9 hours from Amsterdam and 45 minutes from Caracas. The Netherland Antilles is located near Aruba and the islands is in the Netherin the bay of Spanish Waters near Santa Barbara and Barbara Beach and Fort Beekenburg. Dutch and Papiamentu are Curacao's official languages, but English and Spanish are widely spoken. Surrounding: "Bon dia" Curacao bids you a warm welcome! In the islands of the Netherlands Antilles it is summer all year round. Curacao is the largest island in the Antilles with an area of 444 sq. kilometers (some 180 sq. miles) The average air temperature is 27° C or 81° F and cooling trade winds guarantee a comfortable climate. It is a pleasure to go shopping in the historical town of Willemstad which is on Unesco's World Heritage List. Curacao is known for its 'tax-friendly' prices and original liqueur. Resturants offer a wide choice of cuisines: Argentine, Surinam, Italian or French, Indonesian and Creole. The island offers privacy in a comfortable villa furnished in Caribbean style. There are tropical gardens with birds and iguanas. There is also an indian hut to enjoy your siesta in a hammock. Accommodation: The island has its own parking and docking area ashore (with an electric gate). The villa consists of three coupled buildings, one containing the main living area with kitchen, one containing guest- and bathrooms, and the last one with storage, washer, dryer, and a separate caretaker's apartment. Some highlights: Phone in all rooms, Cellular card phone for your use, Multi-system TV/Video, Internet connection, Fax, Radio/CD/stereo, Local/satellite TV, private beach with outdoor shower, washer/dryer, Barbecue/patio area. There are four 2-person bedrooms and if desired an extra 2-person bedroom. The master bedroom with king size bed (all bedrooms air-conditioned), TV/video, private bathroom with bath and shower and toilet. The second bedroom has two single beds, share bathroom/toilet. Third and fourth bedroom have queen sized beds, bathroom with shower/toilet, balcony/terrace. Dining: The Villa features a modern kitchen with general supplies when you arrive. A shopping service can be organized to assist you with your grocery needs. Otherwise assistance with the islands boats (Boston whaler) or a transportation service can be arranged so that you can visit one of Willemstad's markets (such as the 'Floating Market' with an abundance of vegetables and fruits fresh from Venezuela) or visit the many and varied restaurants. Also offered on the island is a buffet service with gourmet cooking, barbecue (on your own private beach) salad buffet and breakfast buffet prepared for your convenience. Activities & Daytrips: Since you are only 5 minutes from the Caribbean Sea, water activities play a major role such as swimming, windsurfing, water skiing, snorkeling, diving, as well as boat tours, deep-sea fishing (tuna, marlin, sailfish and wahoo fishes in the waters) and also golfing is nearby. Curacao has wonderful white, sandy beaches as well as breathtaking flora and fauna. Visit the Hato limestone caves, the Botanical Garden or the Hofi Pastor or take a guided tour by horseback of the Christoffelpark, a nature reserve boasting 4,500 acres around the island's highest point. Here nature lovers can walk the trails and enjoy all types of flora and wildlife. Cultural siteseeing such as a visit to Fort Amsterdam, The Fortkerk Church or Fort Beekenburg and the many museums and estates (every estate has its own story to tell) enhances your impression of the rich history of the area. The walking tour through historic Willemstad is a good place to start. How to get there: Fly to Curacao. You will be transported to the island. Special Features: To the island belong and are available (excluding fuel):Boston Whaler 19 ft Outrage, 200HP Yamaha, waterskis, line, tube for towing; Boston Whaler 13 ft, 25HP Johnson. The owners ask for a license to drive these craft from the country the guests come from (vaarbewijs, fuhrerschein)and can be used by the guests after instruction. Also available: a Laser sailboat (one man/woman Olmpic class sailing dinghy) in competion condition; a Sunfish sailboat (one/two people) reasonable to play around or try sailing; a variaty of masks, snorkles, fins. For diving we work together with a local PADI certified diveschool/operator, lot of possibilities, where all the gear can be rented. Courses and or trips can be arranged. Scuba diving here is spectacular !
