Imagine living like Robinson Crusoe on a desert island, but now add some
luxury and get the best of both worlds. Lime Cay provides complete privacy in a
beautiful setting on the private island of your dreams.
Lime Cay is located in the the Pearl Cays about 3 miles off mainland
Nicaragua. The island is 9.5 acres in size and is surrounded by white
sandy beaches. The northern most part of the island has a mangrove
forest and the rest of the island is covered in coconut palms and many
other types of vegetation. There is a freshwater well on the island
which provides plenty of water throughout the year. The island is
protected from high seas by surrounding reefs and outlying islands.
Accommodation: The house on Lime Cay has 4 bedrooms, all with ensuite
bathrooms. They open onto a large patio with a swimming pool and sun loungers.
There is an outdoor living room with comfortable sofas where you can sit and
watch the world go by. There is also an indoor living room/dining room.
Although a cook will be on the island to cater to you (Nicaraguan style), you
have free range of the kitchen if you want to cook yourself, and the cook can
teach you how to cook some of the local specialities including coconut bread.
There are a range of activities available, from fishing, visiting the nearby
islands, kayaking, snorkelling and beachcombing, but on the whole this is just a
great place to relax and get away from it all.
Rental of the whole island costs $6,000 a week for up to 6 people, this
includes meet and greet in Bluefields, transfers from Bluefields, daily outings
in the boat, and all meals (alcohol is not included but can be purchased in
Bluefields before departing for the island). Any help you need with local
flights (Managua to Bluefields), and accommodation in either Bluefields or
Managua can also be arranged.
