Rent an island near Giverny in "Claude Monet's country". Located between La
Roche Guyon and Vétheuil, 45 minutes from Paris (Porte Maillot), the 10 hectare
property has two houses: 5 double bedrooms with bath and/or shower in one. The
other house is occupied by the care takers. Tennis, swimming pool…
It's one of the most beautiful places in the Paris region. The
impressionnists were attracted by the beauty of the landscape and the
quality of its light. Claude Monet lived there and painted several
famous paintings from Vétheuil and the banks of the Seine, and of course
the Waterlilies of his garden of Giverny, just nearby.
There are about sixty islands in "Ile-de-France" on the "Marne", the "Oise"
and of course the "Seine".
Some of them are wild, some are inhabited. Only one belongs to the same
owner: the island of Chantemesle, situated at the famous "Route des Crêtes"
between Vétheuil and La Roche Guyon's feet.
Other marvels around the island of Chantemesle: the cave-dweller's
settlements of Haute-Isle, the XIIth century church of Vétheuil or the Castel of
La Roche-Guyon, a Mecca for culture in Val d'Oise. La Roche-Guyon has been
classified as one of the 20 most beautiful villages of France.
A few kilometres away, the "Epte", a small tributary of the Seine, borders
Normandy. By road, Chantemesle is one hour away from Deauville.
To get to the Island, a small branch of the Seine has to be crossed. The
island of Chantemesle is a small paradise of 10 hectares in which sit 2 charming
villas authentic to the region. It's a real island; to get there, a small branch
of the Seine has to be crossed by boat, a private boat.
The care takers maintain the park, the orchard, the greenhouses, the
vegetable garden, the farmyard animals, and the tennis court and the swimming
pool.

Main house
Ground floor: a hall (east), a living room with a big fireplace, a
dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a cloakroom and the Victorian veranda.
1st floor : 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a linen room. 2nd floor : 2 bedrooms, 2
bathrooms.
Living space of the main house : 400 m². Central heating.
Second house (occupied by the care takers)
Groundfloor: workshop
1st floor & 2nd floor: caretakers quarters Living space : 270 m². Central and
electrical heating.
On the island: - tennis court - swimming pool - farmyard - 2
greenhouses - 2 landing stages on each side of the Seine - 2 small motorboats.
The main house has just been renovated (exterior + interior). The Victorian
veranda has also been recently restored.
