 Ragskar Island, Sweden
Previous Page

Rågskär is a small private island surrounded by skerries and small islets, with about 600 acres of water property. The closest neighbour is a wildlife preserve for birds. Here, where the birds are protected, the sea eagle can nest without being disturbed. There is a rich variety of birds and always a good chance of seeing the sea eagle fly and hunt.

Meals at Rågskär typically consist of fresh seafood caught from the surrounding waters. The freshly skinned and prepared filets of perch are served directly from the grill or frying pan. Guests may choose to dine either cliff-side table or in the fisherman's boathouse, where the doors open onto a beautiful view of the sea and the setting sun.

The island's culinary motto came from one of its guests, the well-known Swedish chef Erik Lallerstedt, who during a visit with four Chinese guests, wrote in the guestbook:

"The frugal has a way of being unsurpassable"

The island offers individual companies an exclusive experience in Stockholm's archipelago with rest, retreat, sauna, rod fishing, a game of "varpa" and a culinary three-course archipelago meal. Meetings can be held outside on the cliffs or inside the main house. Like the well-known Swedish artists Anders Zorn and Bruno Liljefors, many of our guests have found this archipelago very creative and stimulating.

Your host, as well as owner, Björn Åkerlund, bids you welcome to Rågskär. Rågskär and the surrounding islands were bought by my grandfather in the twenties and have since been the property of my family. The houses were built later.

Björn took his exam as civil engineer at Stockholm's KTH (The Royal Technical University) in 1973 and has worked mostly internationally at both Atlas Copco and SKF Steel. He has always spent a lot of time at Rågskär and is now working to develop its potential for conferences, meetings and quiet moments while maintaining the genuineness of this beautiful and secluded island where the only sources of energy are the sun and the wind. He has an ardent interest in the archipelago as well as for hunting, fishing and cooking. It is an unforgettable experience to be able to come out to a private skerry together with your company's management or department to hold conferences or just to socialize with important customers or guests.

At Rågskär...

The busy executive can find much needed silence and peace. Rågskär also provides an excellent environment for confidential meetings or discussions. Security, discretion and impeccable service are the island's highest priorities.

 Getting There
Even though it is well secluded, Rågskär is easily accessible from Stockholm.

One can travel from Stockholm by helicopter in just 15 minutes. Or take a 30 foot rubber inflatable, cruising through the archipelago at 50 knots, and arrive to meet the stillness and quiet at Rågskär. It's possible to arrange a sailboat or a motorboat from Stockholm, Saltsjöbaden or Dalarö.

Price: $1050 USD per week.
Size: 11 Acres
Location: Stockholm's outer archipelago, Sweden
