Qamea Resort and Spa is an intimate boutique resort catering to a
maximum of 28 adults with only fourteen luxuriously appointed air
conditioned beachfront bures and villas nestled among swaying coconut
palms and lush tropical gardens. All accommodation is beachfront with
sweeping views of the ocean and sunsets - the perfect destination for
travellers seeking an authentic Fijian experience.
Resort
Qamea Resort and Spa is an exclusive tropical destination for
discerning travellers seeking a truly unique and authentic Fijian experience
without sacrificing luxury or service. From the moment you step onto the island,
you will feel as if you have entered a Fijian village set in a South Pacific
tropical paradise.
At Qamea, we accommodate at any given time a maximum of 28 guests (16 years
of age and older) in our 14 spacious beachfront bures (Fijian bungalows) and
villas. We are the only resort on Qamea Island, set on 100 lush tropical acres
of landscaped gardens, bushland, and jagged volcanic South Pacific mountains
that soar behind the property. The resort fronts onto a private white sand beach
of just under a kilometre in length, and is known as the most spectacular in
Fiji's northern island group. All of our bures and villas are air conditioned,
facing the beach, positioned for maximum privacy, and have recently undergone
extensive renovations and upgrades.
Location
The Fiji Islands are located amid the beautiful South Pacific. Our
resort is on Qamea Island, the twelfth largest island in Fiji. There are
non-stop flights into Fiji's international airport at Nadi from Los Angeles,
Honolulu/Vancouver, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Seoul and Auckland as well as
several neighboring South Pacific Island nations. There are also non-stop
flights from Sydney and Auckland into Fiji's capital city, Suva.
Upon arrival in Nadi or Suva, you will transfer to one of Fiji's domestic
airlines for a short scenic flight to Taveuni island. The flight is a visual
adventure as you fly over breathtaking azure blue waters, coral reefs and
deserted islands. You will be greeted at the Taveuni airport by our friendly
staff who will assist in your transfers via motor vehicle and private boat
crossing to Qamea Island and our resort.
Accommodations
We are proud to announce that as of February 2004, we completed the
full renovation and refurbishment of all of our Beachfront Bures and Honeymoon
Villa. The project required our team of New Zealand and Fijian builders eighteen
months of hard work to complete. In September 2004 we completed construction of
our two new Premium Villas, each with over 1,600 square feet of absolute luxury
including private swimming pools overlooking the beach. This has resulted in a
standard of accommodation that is the envy of other resorts in the South
Pacific, and has been a contributing factor to Qamea's award as one of the "Top
Ten Hideaway Resorts in the World" by the Robb Report (March 2004), and more
recently being added to Conde Nast's list of recommended resorts in Fiji.
Beachfront Bures Qamea’s eleven authentic Beachfront Bures
all have thatched roofs and were designed and built in traditional Fijian style,
with soaring 20 foot ceilings and hand polished local mahogany hardwood floors.
All our bures are positioned for maximum privacy, such that when you are taking
in the views of the beach and lagoon from your covered deck, your privacy is not
compromised by views of other bures.
All are spacious with over 650 square feet (including covered deck) and
include modern split air conditioning, fully stocked mini bar, tea and French
press coffee making facilities, ceiling fan, super high quality king size
comfortable bed with all cotten high thread count Egyptian linens, separate
living area, and antique Fijian art collected by the owners from neighboring
villages and islands. Our bures have large covered decks with comfortable
furniture and hammock with dramatic and unobstructed views of the ocean and
sunsets. The bures also boast large fully remodeled bathrooms with imported
European fittings, heated towel rack, hair dryer, outdoor riverstone courtyard
showers, and complimentary Pure Fiji (brand) amenities.
HoneyMoon Villa In addition to our eleven Beachfront Bures,
we also offer a split level 1,200 square foot Honeymoon Villa. This is a
stunning split-level villa built, as are the other bures at Qamea, in the
traditional Fijian style with high woven bamboo ceilings and polished mahogany
hardwood floors. The upper level is the bedroom, and two steps take you down to
the lounge. Both rooms face the sea and have access to a large verandah by
sliding glass doors.
The bure is raised six steps above the lawn and fully screened. The bedroom
is appointed with a large bamboo king size bed, side tables with figured lamps,
large wardrobe, vanity unit, lounge chair and decorative mosquito net over the
bed.
Throw cushions, mats and Fijian art add to the overall luxurious effect. The
lounge has two divans, both of which can become beds when needed. Also, an
imported lounge suite, side tables, sideboard for minibar and tea/coffee making
facilities and decorative table lamps and paintings. Both of the rooms are
cooled by overhead fans and split air conditioning and have an abundance of
tropical potted plants.
The spacious covered deck has lounge chairs, a table and hammock. The
oversize bathroom has an indoor shower, double sinks, and opens to a private
outdoor riverstone courtyard with both an outdoor shower and jacuzzi spa pool.
Premium Villas In September we completed construction of our
two new Premium Villas. Both Villas are situated at the far end of our white
sand beach, affording maximum privacy and seclusion from the rest of the resort,
along with the highest level of luxury for the discerning couple. The Premium
Villas are very spacious and feature a wonderful airy feel.
With 1,600 square feet, the Villas have been designed and built in
contemprary Fijian style, with soaring ceilings and thatched roofs along with
native hardwood and imported tile floors. The bi-level floor plan has a spacious
open bedroom and living area, with high-quality imported furnishings, the finest
in linens, and an array of Fijian art commissioned specifically by Qamea Resort
& Spa.
The Premium Villas are fully air-conditioned and have a stereo system and
telephone. One of the highlights of the villas are their large covered decks
that extend close to the beach with expansive views of Qamea’s pristine lagoon
and romantic sunsets.
Each Villa also boasts a swimming pool from the deck with sweeping ocean
views. The spacious bathrooms contain imported fixtures, including double sinks
and an indoor shower.
A separate door to the private river stone courtyard opens to a large outdoor
open-air shower with access to the deck and pool. Our Premium Villas are the
best that Qamea Resort & Spa has to offer.
Diving
Qamea is home to some of the worlds finest diving sites. Qamea is a
fully PADI accredited dive operation, and features such world-class dive sites
as Purple Wall, Devil's Canyon, Qamea Freeway, the Yellow Wall.
Most of the islands dive sites are within ten minutes of the resort, so you
will not waste valuable holiday time on a dive boat.
