island. Surrounded by the salt marshes and creeks of the Low Country, the island
offers a unique refuge from the outside world. The island is accessible by a 5
minute boat ride on a 26 foot Sportcraft cabin cruiser docked at a private boat
landing on the mainland that is included with the property.
The island is a private nature preserve, abundant with deer, quail,
heron, wood stork, ibis and shore birds of every kind. It is a peaceful
sanctuary. At the centre of the island is a ten acre saltwater pond
where ospreys and bald eagles nest. The pond is also home to large spot
tail bass which offer an exciting challenge for fly fisherman. The
creeks are ideal for all manner of water sports including waterskiing,
dolphin watching, shrimping, crabbing, oystering and fishing. With the
Gulfstream nearby, the spring and summer time offer great big game
fishing opportunities for Mahi mahi, Tuna, marlin, and sailfish.
The spacious three bed room home is nestled under majestic live oaks with a
spectacular view from every room across a small pond to the unspoiled marshes
beyond. The master suite is in its own pavilion and has his and hers bathrooms.
The greatroom is surrounded by expansive screened porches for outdoor dining and
living during the spring, summer and fall. The third pavilion houses two
additional bedrooms and bath. The compound also includes stables for four riding
horses and a house for the manager, a trained wildlife biologist.
This property is an ideal retreat for a couple or a family who loves the
outdoors and wishes to experience the peace and solitude of living in the
Low-country on their own private island.
