(In alphabetical order)
Bahrain,
Middle East
Safety might not be what you think of when the Middle East crosses your mind,
but Bahrain isn't your typical Middle Eastern country. Violent crime is rare,
the crime rate is low, the people are rich, the sultan is good, etc...
Bhutan, South
Asia
One of the benefits of living in a secluded Himalayan kingdom is that there's
not much crime. Although there are conflicting reports that 'yak theft' is on
the rise.
Croatia,
Eastern
Europe
No one ever mentions how they feel unsafe during their trips to Croatia.
The beautiful people and stunning coastline usually dominate the conversations.
The biggest crime here is a little price gouging of the tourists.
Cuba,
Caribbean
Assuming you weren't at one time a supporter of the other Cuban dictator, Batista...
Cuba is a very safe destination. And if you live in one of the 193 countries in
the world that allow its citizens to travel freely to Cuba, you should take
advantage and
see what the Caribbean looked like thirty-years ago.
Denmark,
Northern Europe
Like its neighboring Northern European countries, Denmark has a very low rate of violent
crime and a very friendly citizenry.
Finland,
Northern Europe
Finland is located in the magical land of Scandinavia where crime is unheard
of and people are friendly.. In fact Helsinki (the capital of Finland) is routinely named
the world's friendliest city.
Hong
Kong,
East Asia
Many feared that Hong Kong would deteriorate after its handover to China in
1999, however most agree the opposite has happened. Hong Kong has never been
a safer or more beautiful city than it is today.
Iceland,
Northern Europe
Although the island has been hit quite hard by the financial crisis of 2008,
Iceland remains a very safe destination. But then again crime isn't really a big
issue elsewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean either.
Japan,
East Asia
Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the industrialized world
(as long as human on whale crime isn't included in the statistics, which it is
not). Visiting
Japan is like going back in time to a utopian image of the 1950's people's parents
talk about. Riding to school on bicycles only to leave
it unlocked while having unsupervised conversations with strangers, etc...
Malta,
Western Europe
Malta is a small island nation in the Mediterranean and like a lot of island nations
it is a very safe destination.
Monaco,
Western Europe
The only crime that happens in Monaco is at the casino in Monte Carlo where
people get fleeced of their riches everyday. Other than that you'll have nothing
to worry about.
New
Zealand,
South
Pacific
New Zealand is a very safe and very beautiful nation.
Norway,
Northern Europe
Every Northern European has made the list of safe destinations and Norway is
just as deserving of the others.
Seychelles,
Africa
The only African nation to make the list is the Seychelles and it's located a
thousand miles off the coast of the continent. I'm not sure what
that says about the safety of the continent of Africa itself, but the Seychelles
is on easy street, one of the most beautiful places in the world with a booming tourism trade.
Singapore,
Southeast Asia
Like most developed Asian nations, Singapore is a very safe destination. The
only thing precarious about Singapore are its thoughts on capital punishment. Singapore
is the only nation in the world that has more executions per year than murders. As
a common phrase to goes: 'it's like Disneyland but
with capital punishment'.
Sweden,
Northern Europe
My personal favorite of the Scandinavian countries, Sweden is as safe as they
come. The only crime reported here is that of beautiful Scandinavian women
stealing hearts.
Switzerland,
Western Europe
Most Western European countries have a comparatively low crime rate but
Switzerland easily surpasses them all in safety, security, and stability.
Although if you've been living in France for the past thirty-years while
avoiding extradition to the United States, I would not recommend you visit.
United
Arab Emirates,
Middle East
Another atypical Middle Eastern nation, the UAE is a modern and developed nation
with a large share in luxury travel. The real estate crash has hit the
economy hard in Dubai but you can rest assured that the UAE is still a safe
destination.
