(In alphabetical order)
Bahrain,
Middle East
Safety might not be what you think of when the Middle East crosses your mind,
but Bahrain isn't your typical Middle Eastern country. Violent crime is rare,
the crime rate is low, the people are rich, the sultan is good, etc...
Bhutan,
South
Asia
One of the benefits of a secluded Himalayan kingdom is that there's not much
crime. Violent crime is as unheard of here as a nightclub. However visiting the
country can be a pain to your pocketbook as you're required to spend a set
minimum per day as part of an organized tour. Independent travel isn't
permitted.
Croatia,
Eastern
Europe
Croatia is the jewel of the Adriatic with its thousand mile plus
coastline. It is also a very safe country in which you'll almost always feel at
ease. And it's hard not to with natural beauty like this.
Cuba,
Caribbean
You'd be surprised at how dramatized Cuba's situation is, not only is it a
surprisingly safe destination, it also boasts the Western Hemisphere's longest
life expectancy rates, as well as literacy rates. So if you live in a country
other than the United States & are allowed to visit Cuba, you should go see what
the Caribbean looked like 30 years ago.
Denmark,
Northern Europe
Like most all Northern European countries Denmark has a very low rate of violent
crime. Not only that, you can be pretty much assured of safety from even being
lost while in the country as the people are just so damn friendly.
Finland,
Northern Europe
Finland is part of that wonderful Scandinavian trifecta of beautiful
nations, friendly people, & high prices. But while it may be expensive, it is
definitely safe, in fact Helsinki (the capital of Finland) is routinely named
the world's friendliest city.
Hong
Kong,
East Asia
Many feared that Hong Kong would deteriorate after its handover back
to China, however in reality the opposite has happened. Hong Kong has never been
a safer or more beautiful place than it is today. The economy is booming, & the
streets are safe. You can literally walk from one end of the city to another at
any time of night & never feel unsafe.
Iceland,
Northern Europe
You wouldn't really expect anything less from Iceland. I mean it is an island in
the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, no one thinks Iceland & unsafe in the
same sentence.
Japan,
East Asia
Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the industrialized world
(as long as human on whale crime isn't included in the statistics). Visiting
Japan is like going back in time to that utopian image of the 50's we hear our
parents recite. The way they rode to school on their bicycles, & talked to
strangers, all things that Japanese people routinely do.
Laos,
Southeast Asia
Laos is one of the safer countries in Southeast Asia, it is also a communist
nation. In what may be surprising to you, communist nations are actually quite
into that whole law & order thing, & make for some of the world's safest
destinations.
Malta,
Western Europe
Malta is a small island nation in the Mediterranean, as are a lot of island
nations, Malta is a very safe destination. In fact you'd be hard pressed to find
a safer place to visit.
Monaco,
Western Europe
The only crime that happens in Monaco is at the casino in Monte Carlo. There
people get fleeced of their riches everyday. Other than that it just doesn't
happen.
New
Zealand,
South
Pacific
What's the worst thing that can happen, someone might steal your sheep? Ok so
that's not fair, New Zealand is a very safe, very beautiful nation.
Norway,
Northern Europe
So basically every Northern European nation made the list of safest destinations
on the planet. And Norway is definitely safe, unfortunately however it's also
regarded as the most expensive nation on earth.
Seychelles,
Africa
The only African nation to make the list is the Seychelles & it's compromised of
115-islands a thousand miles off the coast of the continent.. I am not sure what
that says about the safety of the actual continent of Africa. The Seychelles
though is on easy street, one of the most beautiful places in the world so an
expanding tourism trade.
Singapore,
Southeast Asia
As are most developed Asian nations, Singapore is a very safe destination. The
only thing not safe about Singapore is capital punishment, Singapore may very
well be the only place in the world where the government executes more people
per annum than are murdered in general. As they say, 'it's like Disneyland but
with capital punishment'.
Sweden,
Northern Europe
My personal favorite of the Scandinavian countries, Sweden is as safe as they
come. The only crime you'll experience here will be that of your heart being
stolen by all the beautiful women.
Switzerland,
Western Europe
While all Western European countries have a low crime rate to a degree,
Switzerland surpasses them all in safety, security, & possibly beauty.
United
Arab Emirates,
Middle East
Another atypical Middle Eastern nation, the UAE is a modern & developed nation
with a world class luxury travel trade. I'm sure you've seen it on the Discovery
Channel like everyday.
Vatican
City, Western
Europe
Ok so this was more of a joke, of course we all know how safe the Vatican is, it
only has one resident, THE POPE! And then there's the matter of the Swiss Guard
which keep the tourists inline.
