Travelers Digest: Travel Advice

Airline Reviews

The following is a list of short and concise opinions on major airlines across the globe. The opinions are derived from a consensus of travellers who fly on a more than frequent basis.

Asiana Airlines: Based out of Seoul. A good airline with in-seat entertainment, video on demand, full meals, and a quality frequent flier program.
 Overall: Positive

China Airlines: Based out of Taipei. Not to be confused with Air China, this Taiwanese airline holds the unfortunate distinction of being the world’s most dangerous airline. Looking past that though, the planes are modern and the flight staff is excellent.
 Overall: Indifferent

Delta/Northwest: Based out of Atlanta. The airlines operate the traditional American format for airlines; no seat-back entertainment systems, no in-flight meals, and a surcharge for checked bags after your first.
 Overall: Indifferent

EasyJet: Based out of London. Flying to pretty much every destination in Europe at rock bottom prices, EasyJet is exactly what you expect. The airline does generally have a large number of windows at the airports from which it operates ensuring a smooth pre-flight process.
 Overall: Indifferent

Gulf Air: Based out of Manama. A pleasant flying experience with a friendly flight staff. Pretty standard among airlines coming out of the Gulf region, not as modern as many Asian airlines.
 Overall: Positive

JetStar: Based out of Singapore. It’s cheap and goes to more than a few places in the Southeast Asian/Australian region. To state the contrarian argument, the planes are small and no frills.
 Overall: Positive

Ryan Air: Based out of Dublin. You get what you pay for and on Ryan Air it isn’t much. The flight staff is rude and the airline policies are decidedly not customer friendly.
 Overall: Negative

Southwest: Based out of Dallas. It’s a budget/no frills airline but it has flights across the United States at affordable prices and they don’t charge for checked bags.
 Overall: Positive
