Question: I would appreciate if you could provide me details of when is the best time to travel to Africa for the safari along with all other complete details.
Answer: The best time to visit would generally be during the dry season. Now as to when the dry season occurs depends upon what part of Africa you will be visiting. But I’ll give you the lowdown on the seasons of the wildlife hot spots.
In East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, etc…) the dry season runs from December to March & then again from June to October.
In Southern Africa (Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, etc…) it’s mostly dry from May to October.
And in Central Africa (Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, etc…) the dry season is from June to September.
Depending on what type of animals you’re looking to encounter, all of the destinations mentioned above are suitable for safaris. In East and Southern Africa the terrain is mostly that of plains and savannah, making them excellent places to see elephants and the big cats. While in Central Africa the terrain is that of lush forest, making those destinations more suitable for viewing the great apes.
