Hostels and transportation in Hong Kong

Name: Mouldyking

Question: I am Flying to Hong Kong on the 25th of May. I am looking for accommodation, I have read some horror stories of people staying in Hostels.

What I was wondering has anybody stayed in Hostels there, and can you recommend any?

Also I would like to know what is the cheapest way to get from the airport to Kowloon at around 6pm?

Answer: I’ve stayed at hostels in the Chungking Mansions before several times without ever having encountered a problem. It’s pretty much the only place in Hong Kong where there are actual hostels. Otherwise there are only budget hotels. I can see why people are put off by Chungking, but keep in mind that Hong Kong is a very safe city.

If you decide to go with the budget hotel route you can always take a look at TDLodging.com: http://www.tdlodging.com/City/Hong_Kong.htm

To answer your other question. The cheapest way to get from the airport to Kowloon at any time is always going to be the Cityflyer bus and that is going to cost about $35 HK.
