Question: Dear Sir,
I wish to apply for Russian Tourist Visa in the Consulate in Nigeria whereby the Consulate requested for an original Tourist Voucher from the authorized hosting Russian travel Agency and confirmation letter both must contain the Agency reference no. given by the Russian ministry of foreign affairs.
What do I need to produce before this could be process and how long does it take?I will be coming for tourism on the mid of July.

Answer: Under Russian law all visitors to the country must have a Russian based sponsor. This could be a hotel, a tour operator, a travel agency, or even a private individual. The easiest way to obtain one is to make a booking with a Russian travel agency in the city you intend to visit.
When I visited Russia I received a sponsorship from a travel agency in St Petersburg. It didn’t take very long, they just faxed over their letter of sponsorship to the local consulate.
