Mayan Estate, Xpu-ha Description: As part of a privately owned, 50 acre estate, this villa has established itself as one of the finest villas in the Riviera Maya. Surrounded by lush vegetation this magnificent home sits gracefully on the shores of Xpu-Ha beach, rated one of the best three beaches of the Riviera Maya. Leading Mexican, beach architect [whose work also includes Architectural Digest’s cover feature of Las Alamandas hotel in Manzanillo] designed this stunning beach getaway, conveniently situated only 45 minutes south of Cancun international airport. A beautiful tropical garden, boasting its own cenote [natural rock pool], can be viewed in comfort from the rear patio, which ushers guests to the villas entrance. The foyer gives way to the sunken living area. A fully equipped wet bar is located to the left of the foyer. Adjoining the bar is a closed kitchen, where the villas own chef prepares sumptuous meals. Furnished with a king sized bed, couch and writing desk, this beautiful room offers the privacy of a huge ocean facing terrace with a huge, built-in sun bed and hammock where you can relax and enjoy an unparalleled view of Xpu-Ha beach and it’s coral reef. The bathroom also features a Jacuzzi, huge shower, twin sinks and three windows overlooking the gardens. The second master suite is reached through the studio with a large window facing the sea and a terrace facing the rear garden. This suite has a king sized bed. A couch situated below another large window allows an incredible view of the sea from the bed. Its bathroom is also outfitted with another of this villas trademark, giant showers and a private terrace for an awe-inspiring view of the famous, Yucatan jungle. Enormous doors lead from the living room to another, larger patio facing the front lawn and beach, where comfortable sun-beds and an outdoor dining suite are located. To the right of the immaculate garden, the swimming pool beckons! Built with a platform in the shallow end, this pool is perfect for a mid-morning mimosa, or sunset cocktail. Another dining suite and sitting area can be found here, under a tejaban roof. A charcoal, BBQ provides for the perfect beach cook-out; in style of course! This villas stunning garden, which is illuminated at, night leads directly onto the beautiful and tranquil Xpu-Ha beach. A palapa-style hut, with extra sun-beds [and frosty Margaritas served to you by the butler] will guarantee envious looks from the few passer-bys.
