Description This private
estate in the prestigious residential area known as Kommeno, is located on
the Greek Ionian Island of Corfu (Kerkyra in Greek) 9 km. south of Corfu
Town (called Kerkyra in Greek) which is the island’s capital. The
airport for the island offers all the facilities and services one would
expect of an international airport and is located just 3 km. south of
Corfu Town in the area of Kanoni. The area of Kommeno is located on a tiny
peninsula jutting from the east coast of the island halfway between Corfu
Town and Ipsos. From the wooded location of the estate, a sweeping view
takes in Gouvia Bay and the Kontokali marina with Corfu Town in the
distance. The nearby cosmopolitan delights, along with the museums and
archeological sites, of nearby ancient Kerkyra make this estate in its
tranquil, peaceful, and pine-scented location the perfect place for a
relaxing vacation. This modern Mediterranean-style villa, perched eighty
feet above the sea, has extensive outdoor entertaining areas. Filled with
state-of-the-art technology, the villa was used in the making of the James
Bond movie “For Your Eyes Only.” The villa is surrounded by a walled,
gated, and flower-filled garden. Stone entry gates lead to 300 meters of
gracious laurel-lined driveway on the extensive (12,400 m2) and
professionally maintained grounds. At the main house, guests are received
by a fountain in the traditional entry courtyard. The garden is
extensively terraced and has beautiful panoramic views of Kommeno Bay.
Romantic stone pathways shaded by bougainvillea, wisteria, plumbago, and
Jasmine, lead through the garden to individual terraces. There are groves
of twisted, 120 silver olive trees, punctuated by huge cypresses and some
very rare and ancient specimen plants. A small pathway leads down to the
private beach, which can be accessed only from the estate. On the beach, a
deck has been installed to provide space for lounging and facilitate
access into the sea. On the terrace just below the house, a large (18 x 12
m. x 3 m. deep) fresh-water swimming pool is available at all times. A
waterfall from the house-level terrace level into the pool provides a
striking feature. Extensive outdoor lighting in these areas makes them
perfect for entertaining at any time. On the broad terrace surrounding the
pool, where there are plenty of deckchairs and pool toys, there is a pool
house with a bar, kitchen area, shower rooms, and a barbecue. The estate
is serviced and maintained by an experienced English-speaking Philippino
couple who live there full-time. Both members of this couple are excellent
chefs in the best 5-star hotel tradition. They are able to offer a broad
menu selection from Asian, European, or Creative Fusion cuisine. In
addition, a gardener/pool boy is on site daily. There is plenty of
available parking including a 3-car garage. Although a bus stop is located
just 1 km. away, the use of a rental car is suggested. Tennis, horse-back
riding, bowling, bicycling, golf, and waterskiing are all available at
nearby hotels. By standing agreement with the hotels, these leisure
activities can be arranged for our guests. In addition, boat trips on a
local caique, a fast motor-yacht, or a wooden schooner are available.
Beach trips for quick day picnics or over-night stays. The Villa’s
boathouse can also provide mooring for a boat.
Interior
Description (630 m2) The
main house is beautiful and spacious with exceptional entertaining areas
and a large (170 m2) living room whose glass walls open onto the wide
sea-front terrace above the swimming pool. Extensive use of marble and
Italian tile has been made in the finishing of both the interior and
exterior areas. The modern kitchen (70 m2) is fully equipped to support
extensive entertaining -- walk-in Sub Zero fridge, ice-maker, two ovens,
microwave, cook top (electric and gas), and Espresso Machine. The master
bedroom suite features a large bedroom, a separate dressing room, a
sitting room and a seafront balcony accessing the pool. The bedroom has
surround-sound stereo, sat TV, DVD, Internet access, and the dressing room
is fitted with custom cabinets. The bathroom has hand-painted murals, a
Jacuzzi and a sauna, along with a separate shower and separate WC. The
sitting room has a view of the pool and the sea and the adjacent study has
glass walls that overlook the sea. The study has ISDN Internet, telephone,
Xerox printer and copier, and Fax machine. Additional rooms in the main
house include a guest suite containing a bedroom, bathroom (shower, WC), a
big, cozy sitting room with fireplace, and a seafront balcony, all
decorated in a Moroccan style. The floor is Mahogany and the beds are 2
singles which can be arranged to make a queen size There is a second guest
bedroom which has its own ensuite bathroom (tub and WC) and terrace, and
also a separate staff room with its own bathroom and shower. The double
garage also includes an independent staff apartment (That is where the
permanent staff stays). There is also a separate guest house (100 m2)
which has a living room with fireplace an open plan kitchen (fridge, oven,
dish-washer, Ceran cook top), a bedroom with en-suite bathroom (tub and
WC), a kitchen, a mezzanine study, a guest toilet, and an elevated study
which readily serves as a children’s bedroom. There is a sofa which
converts into a queen size sofabed. Central heating is provided. In
addition, there are 15 individual silent AC units in the main house, 4 in
the guest house which are provided in appropriately strategic locations.

Fax. A stand-by generator provides emergency electrical service. Guest
House: Laundry -- independent with washing machine and dryer. Kitchen –
cook top, oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher. Separate telephone line.
Swimming pool, reverse osmosis water filtration, ISDN telephone service,
3-car garage, outdoor lighting, separate guest house, private beach, and
yacht mooring. Tennis, riding, bowling, bicycling, golf, and waterskiing
are all available nearby. Boat trips for the day, a picnic, or an
overnight stay, can be easily arranged, as well as tour guides, nanny
services, drivers, and bike rentals, massage and Spa therapy.
Complimentary guest pickup at the airport west of Corfu Town is provided
free of charge. Shopping service will be provided by the staff for a
charge to cover staff-car gasoline, and any purchases. Fire wood as
required will be provided upon request.
