Description This 18th
century house, lovingly restored in 1990, is situated in the center of the
Venetian-influenced village of Maroulas and overlooks the village church.
An incredible example of skillful restoration, the house is comprised of
two historic structures, one Venetian and the other Turkish. It features
high ceilings, white walls, and tasteful furnishings. Outdoor amenities
include a 600m2 patio (partly covered) with high walls which affords the
utmost privacy; the entrance gate leads directly into this courtyard from
the street. In one corner of the courtyard there is a large above-ground
Jacuzzi and elegant garden furniture. There is also a spacious tri-level
upper sun terrace with sea views equipped with umbrellas and lounge
chairs. An ancient town, Maroulas is very quaint and quiet. There are few
other residents and only two tavernas and one café. A full selection of
shops and services can be found in nearby Rethymnon (6 km). The nearest
beach is a five-minute drive (3 km) from the villa. There is a large
supermarket at the bottom of the hill leading up to Maroulas. A rental car
is required. Parking is available outside the villa.
