Exterior
Description Built in the
18th century and fully restored in 2002, Villa Oraia is located in the
center of town and is just a 10-minute walk from the port. It features
local slate floors, exposed beam ceilings, and thick walls. To reach the
villa, there are 120 steps (uphill climb). The villa enjoys uninterrupted
views of the entire island. The sea is a 10-15 minute walk. Many beaches
can be reached by water taxi (available in the port). Please note: No
vehicles are permitted on the island. Water taxis and donkeys are the sole
mode of transportation. The nearest airport is in Athens. Hydrofoils
depart for Hydra from the port of Piraeus (30-45-minute taxi ride from
airport) every hour. The trip to Hydra takes from 1 hour to 1 hour and 45
minutes.
Interior
Description (170m2) Three
floors. Ground floor: The entrance leads into an entrance hall which
doubles as an informal dining area. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with
washing machine, refrigerator/freezer, and small range. There is a
spacious bathroom with a shower and a single bedroom (suitable for a
child). A wooden staircase leads to the first floor. First floor: There
are three bedrooms: one double bedroom with queen-size bed (can be
converted into a sofa), one twin-bedded room, and one single bedroom.
There is an additional bathroom with shower. All bedrooms have wooden
floors. Another flight of stairs leads to the third floor. Third floor:
There is a sitting room/dining area (35m2) and a veranda (10m2). The
sitting area has wooden floors and an exposed beam ceiling. There are 8
large pictures windows overlooking the island and port. The veranda enjoys
the same view and is equipped for al fresco drinks or entertaining. The
amenities include: fans (all bedrooms), washing machine, CD player.
Additional amenities for which there is an extra cost: maid service (must
