Lucca Villa, Tuscany, Italy Description: Beyond the camilia garden, with its curious fountain, lies the swimming pool surrounded by lawns, fragrant lavender, and terracotta pots of lemon trees. There's an outdoor barbecue area next to the Loggia and a shaded petanque court. From the Frantoio where olive oil has been pressed since 1850, the hill swathed olive grove opens out to magnificent views over Lucca. In keeping with the Villa's gentle atmosphere, all rooms are elegantly furnished. From the angel frescoed ceiling of the lounge and the grand music room to the arched Loggia with views across to the camilia garden. The pillar and arches of simplistic entrance hall lead up the staircase to the first floor where all bedroom windows frame panoramic views across Lucca and surrounding counrtyside. The villa comprises 6 double bedrooms (4 of which have en-suite bathrooms) for a maximum of 12 guests. GROUND FLOOR:
LOGGIA - A large and luminous queen bedded room with a beautiful liberty styled frescoed ceiling, sofa and views across to the 17th century fountain and gardens. There is an en-suite dressing room leading to a modern bath and shower-room. This guestroom leads out to the domed dining room and through large doors which open onto the outdoor loggia. FIRST FLOOR: FONTANA - A sunny and very spacious, gentle blue and yellow queen bedded room with two armchairs and views across the Controni estate towards the hills that surround the village of Vorno. Dressing room and large en-suite bathroom. CAMELIA - Spacious and softly coloured queen bedded room with views across the Camelia garden at the back of the villa and a grand modern bathroom with separate box shower as well as bath. There is also a small single room adjoining this room - ideal for families traveling with children.
PLATANO - A medium sized sage green twin bedded room with views across the front garden and tree-lined avenue. Leads out to a central drawing room and shares a bathroom. CHIESINA - A smaller, soothing blue queen sized bedroom at the top of the stairs with views across the front garden to the little chapel. Shares a bathroom. OLIVETO - Spacious olive green queen bedded room with two armchairs
and views that lead up and across the terraced olive grove. OUT-DOOR FACILITIES:
STAFF/SERVICES Included in the weekly rental rate is:
ADDITIONAL SERVICES WINE CELLAR & WINE TASTINGS : There is a well stocked private wine cellar at the villa with prices ranging from $12/€15 upwards. A professional wine sommelier can also be arranged to tailor-make a particular wine tasting program for your group. CHEF : Available for either a fully serviced lunch or dinner each day at an additional cost of $200 for the service (excluding food and wine). LAUNDRY : a service for personal laundry is offered as well as arrangements for any specialist dry cleaning requirements. BABYSITTING SERVICE : English speaking babysitters can be arranged. MASSAGE : Massages can be booked with a professional masseuse who will come out to the villa as and when required. Half and full day programmes with the Grotta Guisti health spa in Montecatini can be arranged at the villa. ITINERARY PLANNING & BOOKING SERVICE are offered at the villa with a 15% service charge to all tours, guides, transport and drivers, organization for special events, etc. PLANNING YOUR STAY: -The medieval walled town of LUCCA is a 10 minute drive away - the small city is very easy to get around and discover for yourself or guided tours can be arranged. -The Leaning Tower of PISA (30 minutes away) has recently opened to the public - it is stunningly set in an open lawned piazza which also houses the Cathedral, Baptistery and Campo Santo Cemetery. -A 40 minute drive will take you to the little port and town of LERICI overlooked by a cliff top castle from where boats leave every hour to PORTOVENERE and the World -Heritage site. -CINQUE TERRE ,five dramatically cliff clinging villages. -Renaissance FLORENCE is just an hour away, either by train or car, guided visits can be arranged as well as organise pre-booked tickets to the Uffizi or the Accademia. -SIENA is an hour and a half away with possible stops on the way to SAN GIMIGNANO and MONTERIGGIONI, as is CHIANTI where you can arrange a wine-tasting at one of the many vineyards. -For those interested in art and sculpture there are the impressive marble quarries of CARRARA as well as the sculpture town of PIETRASANTA. -FORTE DEI MARMI is a lively beach stop with some great shopping as you join the masses in the early evening stroll through the town.
