Legal Requirements Florida residents have a three-day waiting period after applying for a marriage license before they can marry. Or, residents may take a four-hour counseling session that costs approximately $40. Residents who complete the course receive a $32.50 fee reduction on the purchase of their license and the license is valid immediately. Non-residents are not subject to the waiting period or the counseling sessions and their license is valid immediately. The license must be used within 60 days. Proof of your valid marriage license is required prior to hosting your wedding ceremony or vow renewal. Please note: The fees identified here are subject to change.
